Ski fitness holidays launched

– A new type of ski holiday launches this winter, with the emphasis on healthy, fitness and luxury. fitscape, a specialist UK tour operator, is offering two dedicated weeks in the Italian Dolomites staying at a five-star hotel, the Rosa Alpina.

The company says many of its clients are keen skiers but are looking for something more in their ski holidays beyond a day on the slopes and a night in the local bar. They complain that they return home feeling tired and hungover.

fitscape will combine guided skiing on some of Europe’s most attractive slopes with an exercise programme and diet that will ensure clients return in peak health.

Each morning will begin with a stretching class and healthy breakfast. On returning from the slopes, there will be a post-ski stretch and afternoon tea. Guests will then be able to enjoy the hotel’s spa facilities including a pool, sauna and steam room.

Later there will be yoga classes and fitness training, all of which are optional. Finally, there is a healthy and nutritious dinner. Guests will be allowed to repair to the bar if they wish – it’s not a boot camp.

The two ski retreats will run on 27 March – 3 April 2011, and and 3 – 10 April 2011.

They cost from £2,095 per person including 7 nights accommodation, transfers from recommended flights, a Domomiti Superski pass, ski instruction and guiding.
